About ASS

Founded in 1989, the Actuarial Students’ Society has established itself as the University of Melbourne’s official society for students undertaking actuarial studies, with the support of the University of Melbourne Centre for Actuarial Studies.

We provide students with comprehensive information about the actuarial profession, accreditation and career opportunities in both traditional and non-traditional actuarial fields. Aside from professional development, we also aim to strengthen our relationship with the student community through our social events.

Our Vision

We see the core aim and function of our society as that of building bridges; specifically, the bridges of professional relationships and networks between sponsor firms and actuarial students.

We at the ASS work together with sponsors and students to build these bridges. With every firm vying to be the employer of choice, we run several professional development and networking events throughout the course of the year, offering students the opportunities to be at the forefront of employment. Firms will connect with our student members face-to-face, targeting the cohort’s most promising future recruits as they prime themselves to launch their future careers. Join us, as we build these bridges.
