The Actuarial Students' Society was formed in the mid-nighties to cater for the interests of students undertaking the specialisation of actuarial studies through the Faculty of Economics and Commerce at the Unversity of Melbourne. Membership is automatic and free of charge. As interest in actuarial studies has grown over the years, membership has exceeded 400 students. The aim of the student society is to assist in the professional, academic and social development of its members.

Numerous intiative as undertaken each year to allow our members to connect with firms in the financial services industry. In additional to traditional actuarial firms, firms from non-traditional areas are also sought, reflecting the changing nature of the actuarial qualification.

All activies run by the student society are directed by a committee of twelve students, with all year levels being represented.
