2010 Beat the Geek: the Taylor Fry AFL Tipping Competition

March 22nd, 2010 by Melissa Tam

Can a uni student beat Taylor Fry? Taylor Fry are delighted to invite you to enter our inaugural uni student tipping competition!

Taylor Fry has developed some simple footy tipping models and we challenge you to beat them. We’ll be entering 3 tipsters using only statistical models (one Treenet® model and two GLMs). We expect to beat most of you but the law of averages will mean we are unlikely to beat you all. Of course you’ll also be competing against other students.

You better hurry because there is $500 of cold hard cash to be won and it’s free to enter… Just put your tips in once a week and you could be on your way to glory.

To join in the fun:
1. sign up to www.footytips.com.au (the 3rd party free website that we use to run the competition)
2. then click on “join a comp”, comp name: “Taylor Fry AFL Student Tipping” and password: “Beat_the_Geek”

Up for grabs is:
1st prize: $300 cash
